A 17-year-old Nigerian teenager, Prosperity Olorunfemi has been granted the license to host a prestigious TEDX conference in Nigeria.
This was disclosed via his Facebook page on Wednesday June 15, 2022.
“The Greatest Gift I’ve gotten yet in my 17th year on earth. I got the TEDx license,” said Prosperity.
“Last night, I had a serious headache and a heartache as well. Some things were not going the way I’d planned them therefore I was ultimately disappointed.
“I put my phone aside to throw off the mood by reading my favorite book and playing with my cousins. Then I got a notification, and behold!
“I got a notification that I’ve been granted the license to organize TEDx Jibowu.
“Having tried once and failed, I gave it just another shot and getting the affirmative result last night. I can’t believe that I finally have gotten the opportunity to bring the TEDx movement here,” he added.
The elated students at Ekiti State University, (EKSU) also appreciated those who supported him to achieve this feat.
“The only word I understand right now is Thank you. Thank you to my Mother and mentor Omobabinrin Adeola Osideko for exposing me to TED and supporting this vision all along.
“Thank you to Christian Agu and Mercy Akamo for the push, motivation and answers to my questions,
“Thank you to my dearest friend Emmanuel Omale for your support and prayers,
“Thank you to TED and the TED team for giving the chance to bring amazing people to share mind-blowing ideas and bring change through their platform,
“Thank you to my friends turned Team Denu Bon, Elizabeth Adepoju, Olorunfemi Praise, Salome Olorunfemi, for sticking with me all along, and for making sure we pulled this through,
“Most importantly, Thank you God, I couldn’t have gotten this without You, You did this,” he wrote.
TEDx is a grassroots initiative, created in the spirit of TED’s overall mission to research and discover “ideas worth spreading.” TEDx brings the spirit of TED to local communities around the globe through TEDx events.
These events are organized by passionate individuals who seek to uncover new ideas and to share the latest research in their local areas that spark conversations in their communities. More than 3000 events are now held annually all over the world.
