The National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) has reacted to comments made by Hon. Ladi Adebutu, asking Yorubas not to be selfish in running for the 2023 presidency.
The students appealed to Yorubas to ignore Adebutu and not give his comment any serious attention.
Adebutu had at a political gathering in Abeokuta asked Yorubas not to be selfish, recalling that former President Olusegun Obasanjo and late Ernest Shonekan were both Yorubas who ruled the nation.
Adebutu, who declared his support for the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, said Yoruba is not the only tribe in Nigeria.
Reacting, the National President of NAOSS, Oluwagbemileke Ogunrombi, in a statement made available to DAILY POST, said “Adebutu made the comment out of his ignorant point of view.”
He said, “How can Adebutu accuse the Yorubas of being greedy for demanding the presidency? How can he say that another Hausa/Fulani man should succeed President Muhammadu Buhari?
“We consider his comment a great insult to the entire Yoruba race. But, we plead with the Yorubas to ignore Adebutu.
“However, we want to caution him to desist from misleading the people with uncultured, ignorant comments.”
