Respite has come the way of over 70,000 candidates in Kano State whose results in the Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations were withheld by the National Examination Council (NECO), due to non-payment of their examination fees.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, Mr Abba Anwar, said the state government has now paid N104 million to NECO, being the outstanding registration fees for Kano State students who sat for the examinations.
According to Anwar, N104.3 million was paid recently to NEC which has acknowledged the receipt of the money. .
“NECO has acknowledged receiving the money and with this payment, students from the state will now get their results released,” he explained.
NECO had refused to release the results of candidates sponsored by Kano state government until the outstanding registration fee was paid.
