Ahead of Monday’s inauguration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, businesses in the Federal Capital Territory are making brisk profits.
A visit by DAILY POST correspondent to major five-star hotels in the nation’s capital showed that they are booked by foreign delegates billed for Tinubu’s inauguration on Monday.
Hotels in Maitama, Asokoro, Central Business District, Gwarimpa, and areas within the city’s centre witnessed an overflow of customers, according to DAILY POST’s findings.
At 10 pm on Saturday, Gwarimpa, Maitama, Wuse 2, and other spots were beehives of activity, leading to little traffic.
James Etuk, a hotelier in Abuja, said that most businesses have made double profits due to the inauguration.
He noted that this is not limited to Abuja but also other states’ capitals.
“Most facilities in the nation’s capital and other states are experiencing a boom. As I speak, most hotels in Abuja are fully booked. The gains will also trickle down to other businesses like entertainment, supermarkets, and others. The economic impact is massive,” he said.
Aside from Tinubu’s inauguration, new or re-elected governors will be inaugurated in Benue, Borno, Cross River, Ebonyi, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Katsina, Kwara, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Sokoto, Yobe, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Delta, Oyo, Plateau, Taraba, Rivers, Zamfara and Enugu, Adamawa, Kebbi and Abia states.
