The leadership of the National Association of Polytechnic Students has given the management of the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State, a 72-hour ultimatum to reverse the increment in the fees for fresh students of the institution.
The lamentation of the student body was contained in a statement issued by the Deputy Senate President of the body, Comrade Adeniji Temitope, on Friday May 6, 2022.
According to the leadership, all the students have been directed not to pay the new fee in order to protect their interests.
The statement partly read, “Solidarity greetings from the National Association of Polytechnic Students, the umbrella body and representative organisation of over 20 million Nigerian polytechnic students both at home and in the diaspora.
“The leadership of NAPS stands against the increment in school fees in the Federal Polytechnic, Ede Osun State.
“The leadership of NAPS gives the Management of Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State, 72 hours to reverse the increment in the school fee.
“The leadership wants the management of Federal Polytechnic Ede to stand by the memo released on April 1, 2022, through the Dean of Student Affairs.
“NAPS uses this medium to inform all students of the Federal Polytechnic Ede not to pay any school fee till further notice.
“The leadership of NAPS will continue to protect all the interest of Nigerian polytechnic students and all other allied institutions that is awarding National Diploma and Higher National Diploma across Nigeria and in the diaspora.”
The student body said it would be awaiting a response from the management of the institution.
