Onwele Anayo, 34, has been arrested by the Anambra State Police Command for the murder of Divine Eze, a three-year-old girl, in Hillview Estate, Nkwelle-Ezunaka, Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State.
In a statement issued today, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, the command’s spokesman, said the suspect had visited the victim’s father on Wednesday and stayed the night. They got into a dispute, and he killed the child in the process.
one Mr Onwele Anayo ‘M’ aged 34-year-old on the murder of Divine Eze ‘M’ aged 3, residing in Hillview Estate, Nkwelle -Ezunaka.
Preliminary information shows that the suspect visited the father of the victim on Wednesday 15/6/2022 and spent the night in the victim’s house. In the early hours of Thursday 16/6/2022, an argument ensued between the father and the suspect.
The suspect (Mr Anayo) took the child (Divine) as she was sleeping and k!lled her, by hitting her on the floor several times. Mr Anayo, carried a knife from the room, and pursued the father around the house, threatening to k!ll him.”
Tochukwu said police operatives have visited the scene and recovered the body of the child and an investigation is ongoing.
Nigerians have taken to social media to react to the sad news and condemne the evil act. “An argument between the father and suspect, how e take concern the 3 years old na ? Something must be missing in the story . But for k!ll!ng the child , the guy should rd in Jail .” one Diamond Tochukwu wrote.
“Be careful who you invite into your home” One Ebere Chukwu warned.
Curious about what the father was doing while his so called ‘friend’ killed the girl, one Omolola Ajayi wrote; “what was the father doing when d man was hitting d child on the floor 🤷ðŸ
