Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has revealed that he does not have a favoured presidential aspirant and has not endorsed any of the 23 contenders seeking the party’s ticket ahead of the APC’s presidential primary.
Akeredolu said the Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum, and his colleagues’ ultimate goal was for the presidency to return to the south.
Akeredolu distanced himself from reports linking him to the endorsement of one of the aspirants in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde.
Despite public knowledge of his position as Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum, which believed that power and the presidency should move to the South, the governor claimed that the article was written to drag him into unnecessary controversy.
“Our attention has just been drawn to a statement widely circulated and credited to the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, purportedly endorsing a particular presidential aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“The statement, largely laced with partisan interest and fluid narrative was not authored by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN.â€
