Federal Government has stated that the nation’s Mines and Steel industry grew by 89 percent in six years despite insecurity challenge.
Director General, Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office, Engr. Simon Nkom made this disclosure on Tuesday during a three-day 6th Edition of Mining Week taking place in Abuja.
Nkom explained that through licensing fees and annual levies, the Federal Government had made a fortune from Mines and Steel sector in recent times.
He said with the deployment of state-of-the-art technology, such as the EMC+ project, a seamless online administration, management of mineral titles received boost.
“It enables investors both local and international to register online at the very comfort of their homes using any of the home devices without the need to travel down to Nigeria and the local investors will have to tender issues at the zonal office of their States.
“The electronic filling system was initially computerized but we have now migrated to an online system which simply means, you can be anywhere in the world to register and get your license”, he stated.
