OAU Admission Requirements for 2022/2023 UTME and DE Candidates

Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Admission Requirements are slightly more demanding than the normal admission requirements from a number of other universities in Nigeria. So, don’t be surprised if the most brilliant students don’t gain admission into OAU due to its level of competition.

Obafemi Awolowo University is one of the oldest schools in Nigeria it is located at Ile Ife in Osun state. OAU is the fifth-best university in Nigeria and is the 33-best university in Africa.

OAU Admission Requirements 2022/2023

Candidates should know that Obafemi Awolowo university is not for the weak. To be a student of OAU, you need to be hardworking and ready to compete with other students.

Below are the OAU admission requirements:

  • Obafemi Awolowo university should be your first choice of institution cause OAU doesn’t accept second choices.
  • Before you can be admitted to OAU you should be at least 16 years of age.
  • You should have 5 credit passes in your SSCE with not more than two sittings.
  • You should score very high in your UTME screening.
  • If you were able to get up to the cut-off mark or above you will be given your desired course.
  • If you fail to pay your acceptance fee on time your admission may be given to someone else.
  • When the quota for your desired course has been met, then you are likely to be given another course.
  • Gaining admission in OAU can sometimes be difficult try to have a plan B.

Does Obafemi Awolowo University Do Post UTME Screening?

YES!

Obafemi Awolowo University does post UTME screening. Students are given 40 questions to answer from. 10 questions for each of the JAMB subject combinations. The exam may be hard or easy depending on how prepared you are for the exam.

What Is Obafemi Awolowo University JAMB Cut Off Mark?

The Obafemi Awolowo University JAMB cut-off mark to be qualified for the post UTME screening exercise is 200.

For pre-degree, the jamb cut-off mark is 180. You should know that pre-degree is different from DE and you will gain admission into year one.

How To Calculate OAU Aggregate

Below is how the OAU aggregate is been calculated:

Aggregate= JAMB score divided by 8+post UTME score+ O’ level score

You can be able to get your O’ level score by using your five relevant subjects

These O’ level scores can be calculated by using the grading system below.

  • A1 = 2.0 points
  • B2 = 1.8 points
  • B3 = 1.6 points
  • C4 = 1.4 points
  • C5 = 1.2 points
  • C6 = 1.0 points

Note: The aggregate score is over 100%

OAU Admission Requirements For Direct Entry 2022/2023

Below are the requirements for direct entry into OAU

  1. Candidates should have at 5 credit passes in their O’ level result in at least two sittings.
  2. Candidates must have IJMB/ ‘A’ level passes in two subjects that must be related to their course of study.
  3. Candidates must pass A’ level / JUPEB in related subjects.
  4. Candidates must have First class or second class upper in the related field for their course of choice.
  5. Direct entry candidates are to purchase the OAU Direct Entry form from the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) or OAU portals.
  6. Candidates are to have a minimum of merit passes in the National Certificate of Education (NCE), National Diploma (ND), and other Advanced Level Certificates.

Does OAU Accept 2 Sittings?

YES

Obafemi Awolowo university accepts two sittings. They accept both WAEC and NECO results. Awaiting results is also accepted but candidates must have to upload the results as soon as it’s out.

OAU Admission Requirements For Medicine And Surgery

  • For you to be able to gain admission into OAU to study medicine and surgery, you have to be very prepared cause there is a high level of competition there.
  • You should at least score 300 or 310 in JAMB.
  • Candidates should at least score 36 in their Post UTME screening.
  • Candidates should have A’s and B’s in their O’ level results.

Note: your aggregate should be at least 80% and you should be hopeful and prayerful so you will be given your desired course of study.

OAU Admission Requirements For Law

Law is less competitive, unlike medicine and surgery. The aggregate for the faculty of law is 68%. Law also makes use of catchment areas, there are different cut-off marks for different states and Lagos is the lowest.

In the faculty of law, students could reach the aggregate score required and still not be offered admission.

Nevertheless, you are in a catchment area if you are from Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Ogun, Ekiti, and Lagos.

CAN I ENTER OAU WITHOUT JAMB?

YES!

You can gain admission into Obafemi Awolowo University without writing JAMB. There are several ways you can obtain admission into OAU without JAMB, but we will be listing just 5 ways for the sake of time.

  • Through direct entry.
  • Through the OAU JUPEB program.
  • Through NABTAB A’ level
  • Through Cambridge A’ level
  • Through IJMB

IS OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY HARD TO GET IN?

Not really!

There are many factors to consider before concluding that OAU is hard to get in. Like if you are intending to study Law the chances of you gaining admission into OAU is high unlike when you want to study Medicine and Surgery.

This is because of the high level of competition in the school. But if you want to be a student of OAU you will have to be prepared and studious so you will be given admission into OAU.

DOES OAU 2021/2022 HAVE AN ADMISSION?

Yes!

Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has started giving admission to 2021/2022 candidates. This means that candidates can either ACCEPT or REJECT the admission as the case may be.

2022/2023 candidates are yet to have an admission because of the recent conclusion JAMB examination which started on the 6th of May and ended on the 16 of May 2022.
