The Ogun FRSC said the men were mobilised to oversee traffic activities on major highways across the state including the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. The FRSC command also announced its 2022 Ember Months Special Patrol Operations which it says will commence from December 20, 2022, to Sunday, January 15, 2022.
FRSC spokesperson in Ogun State, Florence Okpe, revealed that the special patrol operations would focus on speed limit violations, route violations, dangerous driving, wrongful overtaking, overloading, use of expired or fake tyres, lane indiscipline, use of phone while driving, seat-belt use violation, unlatched cargoes and use of drugs or alcoholic drinks while driving.
According to Okpe, 46 patrol vehicles, 10 advanced life-support ambulances, eight patrol motorbikes, four heavy-duty tow trucks and other equipment have been deployed for the Yuletide operation.
“Motorists travelling during this period to celebrate with their loved ones are advised to be extra careful and ensure their journeys are properly planned, with their vehicles routinely serviced, while paying special attention to construction areas where overtaking is prohibited and maximum speed is pegged at 50km per hour, especially at construction zones where traffic is diverted,â€
