The capacity of monitoring officers of the Plateau State Universal Education Board was recently boosted by the board with the distribution of vehicles, motorcycles, and other equipment needed by the field officers to the officers concerned.
Speaking at the distribution ceremony held recently in Jos, the Chairman of the Board, Prof. Mathew Sule, said the monitoring equipment will enable the officers to monitor and ensure quality education delivery in schools in the state.
Prof. Sule said the state was determined to sustain the delivery of quality education to its students and pupils adding that it is only quality education that will ensure the growth and advancement of the society.
Sule, however, decried the increased spate of attacks on schools and school children in the country, saying that such crimes remained a threat to the advancement of education in the country.
“We call on all Nigerians, we speak to the conscience of all, we have no other instrument of advancement and development, other than education.
“We should allow the younger ones to get the best of education; our hope is in the younger people and the future is largely dependent on them.
“So we call on all those that are behind all those criminal activities, to put a stop to it, so that the children can feel comfortable.
“Any child who learns is a child who is stable emotionally and psychologically.
“So if these things are not guaranteed, to what extent can the children learn. There are a lot of difficulties,” he lamented
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the items distributed include: one Toyota Hilux vehicle, 37 motorcycles, 24 laptops, printers, and generators.
Others include: scanners, stabilisers, photocopier, UPS and desktop computers. (NAN)
