Ekiti State government has revealed it will hold an interview for public Secondary School teachers before their promotion.
The Chairman Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Babatunde Abegunde who made this known in Ado Ekiti during a meeting with Coordinating Principals, said teachers that were due for promotion in 2020 and 2021 were eligible for the exercise.
Speaking through the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Mr. Alani Daramola, the TESCOM Chairman said the interview would commence at 9am each day at six designated centres in Ado, Ikere, Aisegba, Ikole, Aramoko and Ido Ekiti.
According to him, affected teachers are to attend the interview with the original copies of their credentials, receipts of purchase of APER forms, job cards, Commission/Teachers manual and public service rules.
Reiterating the commitment of the Fayemi led administration to merit-based appointments and advancements, Abegunde advised teachers preparing for the interview to familiarize themselves with the public service rules and the teachers’ manual, stressing that they must also be properly dressed while appearing before the interview panels.
He said the focus is to ensure that only professionally competent teachers are entrusted to nurture school-age children in the state
Abegunde stressed the need for School Principals to mentor their teachers as well as properly interact with their pupils, adding that there should also be appropriate interactions with parents including using the Parents/Teachers Associations to enable an apt feedback mechanism on the progress or challenges of the students.
