Australia’s Swinburne University of Technology is opening new site in the city of Da Nang in Vietnam, it has announced.

It builds on an already solid partnership with the country and education provider FPT University, and will open in September 2022 in the coastal city.

The courses slated to be offered at the site will largely centre around business and IT subjects, as well as a bachelor of Computer Science.

FPT Corporation, the parent company of FPT University, has 30,000 employees in Vietnam focused on technology, telecommunications and education alone. Graduates are exposes to invaluable employment opportunities in 48 international offices, the company added.

“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with FPT University and prepare adaptive learners for careers of the future, who can make their mark in Vietnam and the broader global community,” said Swinburne’s pro-VC of global engagement Douglas Proctor.

He also pointed out that “strong demand” is expected for the new courses at the new location.

The site in the country’s fifth largest city follows on from the successful launch of its first teaching site in Hanoi in October 2019.

“Swinburne is committed to further developing our global network of collaborative teaching partnerships”

Swinburne also has long established relationships with both institutions in the country and the Vietnamese government, including Da Nang University of Science and Technology.

With this new stage in their expansion, Swinburne and FPT University are aiming to provide a ‘new generation’ university experience for “globally aware learners and graduates”.

Proctor also spoke of how there may be more openings for mobility with other campuses in Melbourne – located in Hawthorn, Croydon and Wantirna – and its location in Sarawak, Malaysia.

“Swinburne is committed to further developing our global network of collaborative teaching partnerships and increasing the movement of students between Swinburne’s teaching locations,” he said.

Students will have also have access to Swinburne’s Online Learning Management System, where lecturers provide digital educational tools like video content, quizzes and new gamification which has been gaining traction in recent years.
