Eight African schools have been shortlisted for awards in the T4 Education, World’s Best School Prizes competition.
The awards are given to schools that have flourished in the five different categories including community collaboration, environmental action, innovation, overcoming adversity and supporting healthy lives. Eight Africans schools were selected in eight categories.
In making the announcement, Vikas Pota, founder and CEO of T4Education, organisers of the awards said:
With over 1.5 billion people impacted by schools and universities closure, COVID has greatly exacerbated a global education crisis in which event before the pandemic the United Nations (UN) warned progress was already too slow to achieve universal quality education by 2030. We have launched the world’s best school prizes as a grassroot solution to help build the systemic change needed by telling the stories of inspirational schools that are transforming the lives of their students and making a real difference to their communities.
The World’s Best School Prizes celebrate schools everywhere for the important role they play in developing the next generation of learners – that’s YOU! Schools can share their best practices from across the world and help transform education.
The African schools shortlisted are
Still I Rise International School, Kenya – Community collaboration
Nachitukula Primary School, Malawi – Environmental action
Eveline High School, Zimbabwe – Innovation
Africa dominated the overcoming adversity category with five schools, Amani School for Refugees – INVER Empowering Refugees, Kenya, Best Intellectuals Model School, Nigeria, Pineland North Primary School, South Africa, Project Shelter Wakadogo, Uganda, West End Primary School, South Africa
The winners will be announced in October 2022 during World Education Week. There will be five winners overall, with each school winning $50,000.
