A 39-year-old pastor, Francisco Barajah from Mozambique, died after attempting to emulate Jesus’ 40-day fast folktale.
His organs failed by the 25th day of the fast, and he was taken to the hospital, as reported by the BBC. Barajah was administered serums to rehydrate him, but he died on Wednesday, according to the outlet.
MY OPINION: It is impossible for a human to fast for 40 days without food or water and survive, as Barajah’s case tragically demonstrated.
How Long Can A Human Stay Without Food?
The length of time that a human can survive without food depends on various factors, such as the individual’s age, health, body size, and activity level.
In general, the average person can survive without food for about three weeks (21 days). However, this is just an estimate and varies greatly from person to person.
It’s important to note that going without food for extended periods of time can lead to serious health risks such as malnutrition, dehydration, and electrolyte imbalances.
