Secondary school students as well as primary school pupils in Lagos State, are to enjoy better learning environments in their schools as the state government has reaffirmed its commitment to infrastructural development of all schools within the State.
This was disclosed recently by the state commissioner for education, Mrs. Folashade Adefisayo, during the inauguration of some educational projects executed for the people of Epe by a member of the Federal House of Representatives, Mr. Wale Raji.
According to the commissioner, the state government has been “doing a lot of rehabilitation of schools, supplying of furniture, providing access to the internet, distributing learning mobile devices and most importantly ensuring recruitment and training of more teachers.
Adefisayo said government was doing all these because “we owe these kids a responsibility of preparing them for the future,” adding that the state government was working in collaboration with communities to ensure that all school structures are in good condition.
She said further that the Lagos state government intended to build more schools for communities in the riverine and rural areas in order to give residents of these communities access to quality education.
The commissioner commended Hon. Raji for his contributions to the educational development of the state through the projects executed by the lawmaker’s constituency office in Epe.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Raji said that that he found it necessary to give something back to the society especially in the area of education. He declared: “when we educate the youths, we are preparing them to be able to face the challenges of the future and proffer relevant solutions to problems that might face them in future”.
Raji added that his constituency projects were mainly in the area of education, good welfare for the people as well as economic empowerment of Epe residents.
Some of the projects being executed by Mr. Raji include Blocks of Classrooms, provision of Furniture, building of VIP Toilets in various schools as well as building of New Dormitories and an ICT Centre.
