Bola Tinubu, the former governor of Lagos State, was sworn in as the 16th president of Nigeria on May 29, 2023.
Tinubu, who is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), won the presidential election on March 28, defeating his closest rival, Atiku Abubakar, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Tinubu won the election with 8,794,726 votes, while Abubakar received 6,984,520 votes.
Tinubu’s victory was seen as a major upset, as he was not considered to be the frontrunner in the race. However, Tinubu’s campaign was able to mobilize a large number of voters, particularly in the southern and southwestern parts of Nigeria. Tinubu also benefited from the support of President Muhammadu Buhari, who endorsed him for president.
In his inaugural address, Tinubu promised to unite Nigeria and to address the country’s many challenges, including insecurity, poverty, and corruption. He also promised to improve the economy and to create jobs.
Tinubu’s presidency will be closely watched by Nigerians and by the international community. He will face a number of challenges, but he also has the opportunity to make a significant difference in Nigeria’s future.
If you have the opportunity to write a letter to him right now, what would you write?
See Mine Below:
Dear President Tinubu,
Congratulations on your election as the 16th President of Nigeria. I am writing to you today as a concerned citizen of this great country.
I am writing to you, to express my hope that you will use your position to address the many challenges that Nigeria faces. These challenges include poverty, corruption, insecurity, and a lack of basic infrastructure.
I know that you are a man of great experience and accomplishment. You have a proven track record of success in the private sector. I believe that you can use your skills and experience to make a real difference in the lives of Nigerians.
I urge you to focus on the following priorities during your time in office:
Poverty: Nigeria is a country with a large population of poor people. According to the World Bank, 40% of Nigerians live below the national poverty line. You must make it a priority to reduce poverty and improve the lives of the poor.
Corruption: Corruption is a major problem in Nigeria. It is estimated that corruption costs the country billions of dollars each year. You must take steps to root out corruption and ensure that public funds are used for the benefit of all Nigerians.
Insecurity: Nigeria is facing a serious security challenge. The country is plagued by Boko Haram, banditry, and other forms of violence. You must work to restore peace and security to Nigeria.
Infrastructure: Nigeria’s infrastructure is in poor condition. The roads, railways, and airports are in need of repair. You must invest in infrastructure to improve the quality of life for Nigerians.
I know that these are ambitious goals, but I believe that you are the man to achieve them. I urge you to work hard to make Nigeria a better place for all its citizens.
Sincerely,
Richard Idasenibo
