The National Universities Commission (NUC) has authorised the America University of Nigeria (AUN) Yola, to introduce B.Sc and M.Sc. degree programmes in Data Science and Analytics.
The approval is with effect from the 2021/2022 academic session, according to the President of the University, Dr Margee Ensign.
Speaking on Monday to members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of Adamawa State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), the AUN President said the new B.Sc and M.Sc. degree programmes in Data Science and Analytics are in addition to other degree courses offered by the institution.
She said the NUC also granted approval for the introduction of a hybrid (online) option for existing postgraduate, and professional courses.
“This will make it possible for candidates to choose to study for any of these professional Master’s programmes on a regular or on a hybrid model,” the AUN President explained.
She added that the hybrid programme would first roll out in Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt before arrangements get completed to add other cities.
She disclosed that the NUC approvals for the new courses at the AUN were conveyed in a letter dated May 11, 2022.
